Meet Vanessa – Your Guide to Speaking Like an American Nurse
Hi, I’m Vanessa! I’ve been a Registered Nurse for over 25 years, working in many areas of healthcare—especially in skilled nursing and compliance. Over the years, I’ve trained countless nurses and healthcare teams, and I’ve learned that great care isn’t just about medical skills—it’s also about clear communication.
That’s why I started NurseSpeak USA—to help internationally trained nurses feel confident speaking, understanding, and connecting in an American healthcare setting. My passion is teaching in a way that’s supportive, practical, and fun, so you can not only pass your exams and interviews but also thrive when you start working in the U.S.
My other passions include cooking, traveling and strength training! I also love spending time with my family. I am a mom, a wife, a daughter, a granddaughter, a friend and a caregiver to all who need a hand.
Some of my other projects
For many years, I worked in Skilled Nursing Facilities and I am an expert MDS Leader. I provide training to nurses that would like to enter the SNF world in this niche area of compliance and reimbursement.
Mock surveys and compliance audits for healthcare facilities are another area of expertise that give me the skills and experience necessary to teach you about nursing while improving your English skills.
Early in my nursing career, I worked as an 'Agency Nurse' so I understand what recruiting agencies are looking for and can help you prepare for interviews to give you the leading edge over your competition.
